Christmas isn’t cancelled

Fundraising for Covid friendly Christmas parcels deliveries.

Christmas Fundraising and Christmas Day

It is some thirty years since our Club became involved with the Christmas Day Meal started by Marjorie Richardson by providing financial help towards the costs of putting on the event on Christmas Day in the early 1980’s. Gradually over the years our help increased until we took over fully running the event more than fifteen years ago.
This year because of COVID 19 pandemic, sadly we are unable to hold our Christmas Day Meal at Moorcroft Day Centre. In its place, having contacted all those who attended last year, we will be delivering special "goody bags" to them, particularly those who will be on their own on Christmas Day.

Christmas Hampers

President John Cooper with our Christmas Hamper coordinator Pat Maguire with a couple of the hampers delivered immediately before Christmas 2015, which was our record breaking number of deliveries to local families in need. We delivered a total of 205 this year, which was 20 more than 2014, which itself was a record by more than 10, thus showing an increasing need for the help Woking Lions is giving each Christmas time.
